I will never get bored with how excited my German friends get when I bake up an “American” baked goods concoction. Typical American style baked goods are very different from typical German ones.
These are probably my favorite cookies ever. I know that is a big statement, but they really are just so perfect. I am always a sucker for anything toffee like or involving caramel and when these cookies come out of the oven they will have magically caramelized and formed this perfect crunch and taste of toffee in them. So good!
Tomatoes and basil are just two things that are meant to go together. Like peanut butter and chocolate. Or chips and salsa. Or crackers and cheese. Each one compliments the other. As Aristotle once said, “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” Don’t think he was referencing tomatoes and basil or chocolate and peanut butter there…
My little sister is turning 24 years old today. I have mentioned before , I am usually the one responsible for baking up the birthday cakes. But since I moved away, my duties have shifted to being the responsible one for finding the recipes for someone else to prepare. I didn’t want to miss out on the birthday cake baking this year, so here is your birthday cake little sis!
This dish is one of those dishes that seem like so much effort and time went into them, but that is not the case at all. This the perfect party dish for feeding a crowd. The result of this dish is moist chicken breasts in a marinade that is to die for with juicy plums and salty olives. The combination is just perfect!
As we were preparing to move, that meant clearing out the fridge. I had one last bit of a caramel from my miracle batch creation sitting in a jar in the fridge. After all of the suspense, frustration, and effort that went into creating that caramel sauce, as mentioned here, I could not just simply throw it out. So that meant that I just “had” to make these Salted Caramel Chocolate Cupcakes.
So I told myself after a busy weekend that I would come home after work on Monday and write this post. But Monday just was not my day. It was one of those days where I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed. The day started with waiting for two hours in the morning for the Schornsteinfeger to come.
Sunday is usually my day to prepare some kind of one pot meal for the week. I decided to stray away from my usual go to, Chicken Tortilla Soup, and try something new – Guinness Irish Stew with Beef.
In honor of St. Patrick’s Day coming up, I wanted to make something involving Baileys.
I never thought I would find myself craving to cook up some good old German beef rouladen. As a native born Texan, I rarely even ate a bite of steak while living there. I know I know… what kind of Texan am I?! Not a very good one my Texas friends would say.
